THIS GUY!!!!!! AND HIS GIRL!!!!

Ok, so it has been a while since I wrote an update. I am very please with the iPad, infect I recently traded the Mac book to a friend in exchange for a Mac mini and some cash. I am extremely pleased with the iPad and how I seem to be able to do nearly anything. There are dome business related things that do have me get on the Mac mini from time to time but I have been spending about 98 percent of my time on the iPad. I bought the case that apple sells for the iPad and have been very pleased with it. I figure that the reason they did the edge the way that they did is that it gives you a little more padding. I can not wait for the ios 4 to come out do that I can better organize my iPad and the apps on it.

I am very pleased so far with how with the tap of an icon I can get to just about anything that I may need. I am debating on if I want to get the via adapter for the iPad to hook up to a monitor.

Hey apple, please make it so the adapter can charge the iPad while having a monitor plugged in, just like the component adapter for connecting the iPad to a tv!

Today has gone well so far. I reinstalled the iWork series on the ipad so that have the ability to work on documents, spreadsheets and such. My Mac is going to be repurposed and I think that I will let a family member use it for the term of this experiment. I am using a jailbreak on this only to be able to use multitasking. I play music in the background while doing other stuff. More to come!

End of day 1, truth be told I did end up using the MacBook to scan some pictures that have been taken through out the years. This is a project of mine that I have wanted to do for some time. But all surfing and chat went through the iPad.

So I have been seeing a lot of people asking, “can the Ipad replace a computer?”.

My answer is yes to an extent the iPad can replace a computer. Now with that being said let me explain a couple of things first.

1: to activate or setup the iPad you will need a computer, or access to one for about 5 minutes and that computer needs to have iTunes on it.
2: I definitely suggest that you use a computer at least once a month to do a backup of your purchases and data.
3: when updates come a available for the iPad you are going to need the access of a computer that has iTunes on it and an internet connection.

So I have decided that the only times I am going to use my computer is if I need it for work purposes or if I am making a video for YouTube. I am going to try and do all that I can with just the iPad and document it some along the way. I will try hard to make a daily post with the iPad as I did with this post.

Here we go!

So I am gonna start to use this more and more as I am not going to be using Facebook as I have noticed that i am spending lots of time on it. I need a central place to keep all of my own ideas. Hence there will soon be things that people can view if they are members only!

The recent earthquake activity is getting really scary. Even the local fault line is showing motion below. We recently had the New Madrid shake at a 3.7M earthquake! And there was also one in BC Canada! I did not even knw there was a fault up there, all this activity in the past month is really causing some questions in my mind and the biggest is “WTF is happening under out feet?” .   We have seen several monster earthquakes near Japan, Alaska, Chille and several others. Below I have included an image to a map that shows the earth quakes in the past week, and it is alarming at the amount. And I really hate to say, but I think that Cali is next to get a big one!

I have found a lot of cool apps, and I know that there are more out there. Here is what I have found, Please comment and let me know if you have found more.

Key Ring – This app has allowed me to ditch the tons of little cards that are on my keyring and just have the ap on my phone. I can use it at the gas station, grocery shopping and lots more. Whip out my phone and on the screen is the barcode from the card so that the scanner can just grab it and I am off.

Shazam – I love being able to tag music at a whim. This app works great when I am having brain farts and need  / want to remember the name of a song.

Evernote – I love the ability to put notes on my computer and have the same notes on my phone as well. Now, you do have to sign up for an account with this program. Luckily it is a free account and very simple to sign up for. On your computer you will need to install the evernote app to be able to sync the notes, but it is a small light and not power intensive app.

Google Sky Maps – This is an app that I think should come on the phones no question asked. I usually don’t like bundled apps but this would be an exception I would be willing to make. This app can be fired up and put into night mode and you can watch the stars and if you were not an astronomy major then you too can know what that star in the sky is. It is super easy, point the back of the phone towards the sky and look at the star that you want to know about. The phone will match what you are looking at in a matter of seconds on the screen and you can look super awesome to your date.

The Missing Sync -$30 for computer app – This has made it so that I no longer needed my ipod as I have a 16gb class 6 MicroSD card in my phone that can hold what i want for music, podcasts and more.  This app makes it really simple to sync anything from your iTunes to the phone. Ok well not anything, the apps are not going to work of course.

Gmote – This is a great app that allows me to control my mac with my phone. I can use the phone as a track pad or an apple remote and more.

TalkToMe Keyboard – Speech to text, what more can I say?

Ustream Apps – This includes the U-stream broadcaster and viewer.  This app allows for simple broadcast from your phone. Lets say you are at a club and the DJ is killing it tonight. You can share to facebook or twitter and show people what is going on! Also when done showing people you can save the video that you have created and it is on your ustream page for all to see till you want it down.

Wifi Scanner – This is helpful to find access points and also see how saturated an area is with wireless networks and plan what channel you want your wireless network on.

So that is about it for now. Please leave me a comment and let me know what you have found, as I am always looking to see what is out there in apps!

I know there is no vsuch thing as free energy.that being said I had an idea on a way to claim some power back. Now, if any one has ever had to work on a cars alternator then they know that these spin fairly easely. So why not run an alternator on the tires of an electric car and try and claim some of that spent energy back. You know. Like the little generators that you put on a bike tire to charge the lights for night driving.

Just a thought.
